Fantastic News!

Fantastic news received from the Minister for Planning Rita Saffioti on Thursday 4 May 2017 that the MRA proposed road extensions through Bush Forever coastal dunes north and south of Scarborough Beach will be scrapped and the funding reinvested into alternative pedestrian and traffic improvements.

Congratulations to everyone who supported our campaign which was built on earlier efforts by the Friends of Trigg Beach, Save our Sand Dunes and Friends of Trigg Bushland.  We successfully harnessed the widespread opposition to the roads from local residents and beach users to convince the Labor Party to commit to ruling out the roads if elected to Government.  Which of course it achieved convincingly in March, and now has acted on that commitment to protect these valuable coastal dunes from destruction by unnecessary and environmentally damaging roads and car parks.

See these links for the various announcements.  Thanks to all of you for your support during the campaign, now we can turn our attention to securing permanent protection for Bush Forever Areas 308 and 310 and working with the State Government to achieve sustainable 21st century solutions to beach access at Scarborough.
